Only three things matter when considering an apartment for rent.
Unfortunately, only a few of us are lucky to get all three. Others have to settle with the one that matters most and make it work. Still, it usually isn’t that simple. What happens when there is a grey area?
We prepared this list of 6 questions that you must have answers to before you take your next apartment.
1. Hidden Charges?
— get this in writing. You move in and suddenly, the caretaker brings up all these extra charges that never came up in earlier discussions until you collected your key. Beware. It can get messy.
2. Why did the last tenant move out?
I know what you’re thinking. Would they even tell the truth? Follow this link of pointers to know when someone is lying.
3. Outstanding light bills?
Know this and challenge management before it is too late because if you don’t know, you may be forced to pay for it or be cut off.
4. Is There Network?
For millennials especially, who get their entertainment and do research online.
5. What happens when it rains?
Is there the danger of flooding? You can make quick observations yourself during inspection.
6. Accessibility/Road Network?
Is it “inside inside’?. Do you have to take 4 commercial bikes and 1 tricycle before you get there? You must be especially mindful of this condition because a lot of the time, apartments that are that far away are usually cheaper. What you will be skimping on with the price, you’ll pay in transportation.
